Meet Max Crane, Business Manager

I studied marketing and management at Murdoch University because it seemed like a sensible choice — but if I’m honest, it didn’t reflect who I was at all. I found the degree uninspiring, but I finished it, because I’ve always finished what I start.

My first few jobs weren’t particularly exciting, so when an opportunity came up to work in London, I packed my bags and left everything I knew. It turned out to be one of the best years of my life — filled with travel, personal growth, and the joy of meeting new people from all walks of life. It was my first real taste of independence, and it shaped me in ways I couldn’t have imagined.

When I returned to Perth, an old business connection reached out and offered me a role in recruitment. That was the beginning of a long and successful career that eventually took me to the top of my game in executive search, working on high-level placements within the mining industry. I thrived in that space — not just because I could find the right candidate, but because I genuinely loved listening. I took the time to understand each company’s culture, the dynamics of their teams, and the personalities of the people involved. Matching the right person to the right environment was like matchmaking — a mix of art and intuition. I built a strong reputation for my care, integrity, and accuracy in making those placements.

Eventually, we started a family, and my priorities shifted. I no longer wanted the long hours and city commute. I wanted to be present at home. So Steve and I combined our strengths to create The Body Genius Institute, and then Effortless Superhuman — a holistic physiotherapy practice rooted in integrity, education, and client transformation. He’s the clinician, and I run the business.

In 2020, I was diagnosed with cancer, and everything changed. That experience cracked me wide open and brought a clarity I couldn’t ignore. Life is short, and you can’t fake good health. You can’t bypass your past — true healing takes honesty, deep work, and radical self-care. As I rebuilt my health, I studied natural healing, completed qualifications as a detoxification specialist, and coached others through their own journeys. I loved the work — but balancing deep emotional support with raising three young children eventually led me to step back from coaching. I now share my knowledge openly and informally, supporting others in any way I can.

Today, I work to live — not live to work. I love the ocean, long open water swims, a 5km run or a gym and sauna session.

I love adventure, deep belly laughs, slow mornings, and cups of tea with a great book. I’m passionate about wellness, joy, and helping others create a life they love.
